Social Networking
The social network has impacted our lives, as a culture and as individuals. We
interconnect differently, view information contrarily and formed an opportunity
for people to connect in a way they never have before. For instance, LinkedIn is
one of the vast proficient networks and a platform used by business minded
people. "Social
networking technology is absolutely the best thing to happen to recruiting –
ever (Frank Langfitt)." LinkedIn is an
invaluable tool in this modern society, where you can promote yourself or your
business. There is an incredible opportunity for people to connect and get a
job offer in a way they never have before.
As
social networks incessantly invade the internet, there are privacy concerns on the
user’s acceptance of social networking sites. “Privacy is a moving target (Peter S.
Fader).” Privacy
on social media is often about regulatory the information that you share and
who has access to what you are sharing. Users think they are protected and secure,
but they don’t take the time to read the privacy policy and what they are
allowing the application to have access to. As a result, companies everywhere
are creating large storehouses of data on all of us. All this date is being
used to create profiles of us. Nonetheless, we don’t have to abandon our self
from social networking, just ask yourself this question before you post: what you
are saying reflect who you are and make sure you know who your audiences is.

ReplyDeleteHi Nisa,
ReplyDeleteIt was great reading your post. I think your last point about knowing audiences and understanding that what we say influences people's perceptions of us is the most important thing we ought to know as young adults. Often, I've seen individuals joke about topics on Facebook and Instagram, that future employers might take into consideration when deciding whether to offer them a role or not. Some things might seem acceptable when discussing them in front of close friends and relatives, but they might not be considered acceptable by your audience; who, on platforms such as Twitter, can be the entire world.
